STORY BEHIND THE CLINIC

When we see or read news about bomb blast, in majority of the cases, it translates to number of casualties. Here is the true story of a young man, who was a victim of a bomb blast in the year 2004.

Nabajyoti Hazarika, 35 years, Male, Dergaon, Assam a 1999 batch B. Sc. (Agri) and 2001 batch M. Sc. (Agri) from Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat was severely injured in a bomb blast on 24th June 2004 in Mothurapur, Sivasagar District, Assam. Nabajyoti was travelling by a bus to attend a job interview and a bomb exploded just above his bus seat, as a result Nabajyoti received serious head injury. He was taken to a hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam and was battling for his life and was in coma for 32 days. He gained his consciousness and has been recovering till date. Two major surgeries were done; post operatively he developed paralysis of the right side of the body and had lost his speech. This accident gave a heavy impact on his younger brother Arunjyoti Hazarika. When the neurosurgeon told that only physiotherapy and speech therapy can make him al right no any other treatment is there for his brother to recover.

In 2007 they lost their father due to cancer. When his brother has been contining his brother’s treatment he moved around various places of Assam, but did not get any good physiotherapist and speech therapist in Assam. After some days of Nabajyoti’s recovery from coma, Arunjyoti met a old and Emeritus Physiotherapists named Mr. Indreswar Boruah, Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh. He was a very nice and positive person and asked Arunjyoti to study the graduation course of Physiotherapy i.e., BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) so that he can help his brother’s recovery and treatment. Mr. Indreswar Boruah has continued his physiotherapy treatment due to which he could stand independently but did not recovered fully and have to return back to home, because of lack of financial power and manpower.

After getting the inspiration from the Physiotherapist Indreswar Baruah, in 2005 Arunjyoti went New Delhi to study the BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) course for 4 and ½ years. After completing his BPT, he opened a physiotherapy clinic in his elder brother’s name as  “NABAJYOTI PHYSIOTHERPY RESEARCH CENTER” at PHCG PATH, PHUKAN NAGAR, WARD NO -03, DERGAON – 785614, GOLAGHAT, ASSAM in 2009.
